Without question, this magnificent stretch of soft, sandy beach would be the beach of choice on Maui if it weren’t for the array of towering hotels and condominiums lining it. The flip side is that guests of the hotels and condos generally spend time by the properties’ luxurious pools rather than the beach, so it is never jam-packed. And at sunset, or even after dark, the beach is superior for long walks and wave dodging. BLACK ROCK, at the north end of the beach, is an extraordinary place to snorkel and possibly meet a sea turtle face-to-face. Located off Highway 30, just north of Lahaina.
