Be Prepared for Paradise

Hawaii is one of the most romantic places on earth, with natural beauty that is unsurpassed. There are fabulous outdoor activities waiting for you to enjoy.

Given all these wonderful experiences ahead of you, there are certain items you can bring with you that will greatly increase your pleasure.

Be sure to bring a hat or sun visor. Even if you’re used to spending lots of time outdoors, most places in the U.S. do not have nearly the intense sun rays that we get at this latitude.

While we’re on the subject of this tropical latitude, absolutely bring your sunscreen, and get a higher strength than you usually would pick. There are few things worse than ending your first day with a horrible sunburn and being uncomfortable the rest of your stay.

Unfortunately, mosquitoes love this climate. And they seem especially to love tourists, so bring a good insect repellant.

Bring film from home. Material goods cost more in Paradise, and film is easy to pack.

If you plan to spend time at the beach or go hiking, a small collapsible cooler that you can carry over your shoulder will be very handy. A bottle of cold water, or any beverage you enjoy, will be really appreciated after a couple of hours in the sun.

Finally, if you plan to hike, do not wear your expensive light colored sneakers. They will end up caked with mud, or at the very least, red-dirt colored.

So, come prepared and enjoy these wonderful islands.
