Dedicated to Heather Matthews

We met in a small restaurant in Arizona and I imediately fell in Love. I constantly asked her to go out with me. I even offered to take her away to Hawaii or Paris and marry her right then. She always refused because she was getting ready to leave for a semester. I told her it didn’t matter and we dated for a short while. The next few months would be rough.
Heather was away at school in Rhode Island and I was already hopelessly in Love with her. I wasn’t sure if she felt the same way about me. Her birthday was coming up in a couple weeks and my story was getting better and better. I am an ammeteur bowler and I told her that I was involved in a huge tournament that weekend and that I promised to win it for her since it was her birthday.
The plane ride over was incredibly nerveracking. I didn’t know if she was going to be home, I didn’t have a plan for suprising her, and I was holding a large stuffed dog in my lap. All the other passengers kept looking at me and smiling while I was sweating, trying to figure out what to do once I arrived.
I switched planes in Boston for the final strech to Rhode Island and while I was there I managed to make a short phone call to wish Heather a Happy Birthday and tell her that I had just won the tournament. She was really excited and completely unaware that I would be there in a little under two hours.
As I walked out of the airport and started looking for a taxi, I remembered a story we had read together. The hero had avoided the girls parents by throwing coins at her window when he came to pick her up. I made sure I had enough change in my pocket for a few attempts at it, and climbed into a cab.
My heart was racing as I arrived and saw that her truck was parked out front. I looked up and could see the light of her window from the street. As I got closer I fumbled for the change in my pocket and set my luggage down as I took a couple deep breaths. I recited what I was going to say when she stepped out onto the balcony and I aimed my first coin at her third story window.
The first coin barely landed on the ledge above and I was sure she didn’t hear it. The next actually bounced and I heard it roll a little ways before it clinked against the glass doors. I saw someone stir inside and peek out of the blinds. I cleared my voice and I was all ready for her to step out when I heard a scream from inside, and then saw a blur come out the front door and blaze down the stairs. Before I realized what was happening, she had her legs wrapped around me and I was laying on my back. We must have layed there in the snow and kissed for five minutes before we even said hi.
We spent the whole week together and fell completely in Love all over again. We now have a date to get married and spend the rest of our lives, Happily Ever After.
