Love Comes Full Circle at The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel

For Angie and Chad, The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel is more than an exquisite property on the outskirts of Waikiki. The beachfront boutique hotel symbolizes their past, present and future.

It was here that the couple began their life together in 2005. On a beautiful autumn night, Angie and Chad shared a romantic dinner at the hotel’s open-air Hau Tree Lanai restaurant. With the entwined branches of the ancient hau tree floating above their table, gentle waves caressing the shore just a few yards away, and a picture-perfect sunset, Angie couldn’t have imagined a nicer evening. But, much to her delight, it got even better. As they finished a delicious meal, Chad got out of his seat, knelt before her, and asked her to be his wife.

“It was beautiful,” remembers Chad. “The tree, the ocean, the sunset – I just knew it was the right place.” Angie managed to say yes through tears of joy and was whisked upstairs by her husband-to-be. In the hotel’s deluxe ocean-view suite featuring a private wrap-around lanai, the couple was greeted by fresh rose petals strewn throughout the suite, bottles of champagne, and their closest friends to help them celebrate.

One year later, Angie and Chad again found themselves beneath the enchanting branches of the hau tree, this time surrounded by nearly 90 family members and friends on an unforgettable day. With a tropical breeze, breathtaking panoramic views, and the mesmerizing ocean as a backdrop for their vows, their intimate wedding ceremony couldn’t have been more perfect. The day continued with cocktails in the ocean-view Sans Souci Banquet Room and a buffet reception in the Japanese-inspired Imperial Ballroom. “The location had become so special to us. And the setting was beautiful and just the right size. It was exactly what we wanted,” says Angie.

Their wedding was so wonderful that Angie and Chad dreamed of re-living it over and over. And so they do. Every year, the couple returns to The New Otani Kaimana Beach hotel to celebrate their anniversary. In 2007, Angie and Chad hosted a one-year anniversary party in the hotel’s same deluxe suite. In 2009, the couple brought two guests to share in their tradition – Angie’s son, Calob, and their new son, Pierce, who celebrated his first birthday at the hotel.

“The location makes this place perfect,” says Angie. “You’re away from busy Waikiki, but close to lots of activities and attractions. The hotel has that quaint, old-Hawaii feel and the staff is so personable and accommodating. And the food … it’s just great!” she adds.

“It’s safe to say we’ll keep coming back,” says Chad. “I’m already looking forward to next year.”
