Customer Privacy Statement
If you browse our website, you do so anonymously. We do not collect personal information – including your email address. We may log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer) to give us an idea of which parts of our website you visit and how long you spend there. But we do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable. Your browser, however, does automatically tell us the type of computer and operating system you are using.
Like many websites, our website at times uses “cookie” technology. The cookies we use do not reveal any personal information about you, nor are they shared with other websites. Cookies help us understand which parts of our websites are the most popular, where our visitors are going, and how long they spend there. In some cases, our cookies exist solely for your convenience so that you do not have to enter travel information more than once. All of our cookies are designed to be automatically deleted after a specified amount of time.
In some of our customer email communications, we use a device called a “click-through URL.” When you click on one of these URLs, you pass through our system before arriving at the website that is your true destination. We use click-throughs to determine the level of interest in particular topics and to measure the effectiveness of our communications. We do not collect the data that would allow us to match click-throughs to particular individuals or email addresses.
At times we may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal information, such as your email address and postal address, for purposes such as corresponding with us, registering at a site, making a purchase, entering a sweepstakes, or participating in an online survey. However, these instances are always at your option.
If you specifically fill out our Free Vacation Planner Service Form, the information you have entered will be forwarded only to a select number of Hawaii businesses that provide information on the services or activities you have chosen. Such businesses are able to contact you only once via email with the information you requested. Unless you initiate further communications with them, no further electronic mailings will be sent from any of our affiliates.
When you supply us with your personal information, we may use the information that you have given us to learn more about our customers so that we can develop better features and services. We may also use the information to inform you about new features, services, and offers that may be of interest to you. These offers may be based on the information you provided in your initial communications with us or in surveys.
If you provide us with your email or postal address on one of our standard forms, or have done so in the past, we will ask you if we can use it to send you updates on the latest features and promotions. If you do not want us to contact you, you can choose to “opt out,” and we respect your wishes.
We encourage parents and guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate in the interactive activities offered on the sites their children visit. To this end, we ensure that all of our content is rated as acceptable for any viewing audience. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children or send them requests for personal information.
Declining Email Offers
We provide customers with an easy means to decline to receive email offers. Although most customers tell us they appreciate receiving notice of these opportunities, we recognize the importance of providing you with choices. At any time, you may request to discontinue receiving these offers from us by simply replying to the email and informing us of your preferences. All email offers that you receive from the H&S will tell you how to decline further email offers (usually with just a click).
We are fully committed to data security. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information you provide to us online. However, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit to us. In this regard, we urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data while you are on the Internet. At a minimum, we encourage you to change your passwords often, using a combination of letters and numbers, and make sure that you are using a secure browser as you surf the Internet.
Our companywide commitment to privacy
If we are going to use your personal information differently from that stated at the time of collection, we will try to contact you via email using the most recent information we have. If you have not given us permission to communicate with you, you will not be contacted, nor will we use your personal information in a new manner.
Our website contains links to other sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to learn about the privacy policies of those companies.
