Here's the history: The Credo of the Peaceful Traveler, intended as an ethical travel philosophy for travelers to practice, emerged from a global event held by the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) in 1988. The IIPT Credo of the Peaceful Traveler was the inspiration of a very special person at the IIPT First Global Conference called "Tourism - A Vital Force for Peace" held in Vancouver, Canada in 1988. The author requested to remain anonymous and the IIPT has respected this request to this day, so the author's identity has not been revealed. However, the text of the Credo of the Peaceful Traveler is very public and appears below.
