Almost every morning in beautiful Maui, the wind is calm and the water clear... so inviting that you must jump in. On some days, a coastal snorkel and swim just doesn’t cut it and the need for an epic adventure pulls you out beyond the beach.
On those days, Redline Rafting can fulfill the need, happily. Our small, fast rafts operate from the Kihei Small Boat Harbor, less than 3 miles from Molokini, meaning you can be to Molokini before any other boat. Most visitors don’t understand the opportunities this creates (there are limited moorings, so the first boats get the best spots.)
Along with providing an awesome day out on the water, the certified marine naturalist guides provide answers to questions, point out marine features and educate you on water safety, especially around the coral at Molokini. These guides, along with the captain, make sure you have a great, safe day. They provide snorkeling gear, breakfast and lunch on the boat, everything you need for an epic snorkeling adventure.
Redline Rafting experience is all about getting closer to the water and feeling the thrill of being on the ocean. Our fast, stable rafts zip you out quickly to choice locations around Molokini, La Perouse and along the Makena coastline to give you the full ocean experience. During whale season, from December-April, we slow down, taking extra time to do whale watching on our Snorkeling tour, It's an incredible experience being out on our small boats, when a gigantic humpback whale swims under the boat to have a closer look at us.
Molokini Backwall is a guaranteed snorkeling location. The tradewinds can be unpredictable but because of the crescent shape of this submerged crater, Redline Rafting crew can always find the right spot for a back wall snorkeling experience. No big boats can make this stop.
Go Inside Molokini Crater before all the big boats arrive. We snorkel ahead of the crowds, different spots within the crater. Depending on the weather and wind, the crews pick the best location to snorkel that day. There is always plenty of life below the water and seabirds above during beautiful calm mornings.
The Kaniolo coastline is a windswept, lava strewn coastline with sea arches, caves and lot rocky outcroppings, where development is almost non-existent compared to elsewhere on the island. We find spinner dolphins, green sea turtles and the occasional non-humpback whale in these waters. If the winds are calm enough, there are places that are epic for snorkeling too. Most days, the wind doesn’t permit good visibility so exploring sea caves with the boat is the next best thing.
The most popular gathering place for turtles is off the coast of Makena. There are numerous sections of the coastline where turtles congregate in mass and we know them all. We can stop at locations, away from the crowds and the bigger boats. You will see more fish, more turtles and more action overall.
