My Island Paradise
Dedicated to My Wife Olivia
Submitted by Mr
I begin visiting Hawaii in 1962 & 63 with a stopover going and coming from a Military Tour in Korea. The Island of Oahu was like Love at first Sight. It was then that I made a decision to make my first vacation plans to this beautiful Paradise.
Even though I was married in 1972, in 1976 I took my first real Honeymoon Vacation on the Island of Oahu and Maui. It was then I found the love and hospitality if the Hawaiian people incredible and astonishing. By the end of fourteen days I still hadn't gotten enough.
In February of 1984 I had this lady friend. I asked her if she would like to go to Hawaii. She casually responded. "Sure why do you ask?"
"Oh, I just wondered if you ever wanted to go."
No more was said.
In late June she was visiting me. I handed her an envelope containing two tickets to the islands. She opened it and saw the words Hawaii.. She began to cry.
Needles to say, we spent eight days of awesome vacation on the Island of Oahu.
In 1985, I come back alone again, spending fourteen fabulous days on Oahu, Kaua'i and Maui.
In 1996 I returned for fourteen days with my new wife to tour Oahu, Kauai, Maui and The Big Island. While going on a tour, the bus driver asked hoe many had been there before. Several raised their hands. Then he asked how many had been there more than twice. I was the lone one. Then he asked me how many times. I told him six with this one. He said, "You're Crazy."
Well, if that be true, I guess I am crazy because…………..
In 2005 we were invited to Kaua'i to celebrate the 25th Wedding Anniversary of our friends for eight days. We anxiously accepted. We celebrated there Anniversary at the gorgeous "Dukes Club" with an awesome dinner and Champaign.
Our visits will never cease. We have future plans to visit again. It is difficult to say which Island that we like most but seem to favor the beautiful Garden Isle just a bit more. The Hawaiian Island of all the other Islands I can never grow tired of. Could that be considered Love of the Islands?
