Hawaii, our teacher of love
Dedicated to My Husband David
Submitted by Angie
There we were, on the sands of Waikiki Beach,my husband and I walking hand in hand.We could feel the water and sand between our toes, and truly thought, there is no place like Hawaii.
After five years of marriage, and all the turmoil we had endured,we just felt so fortunate to be there together.
We had a beautiful wedding 5 years earlier, with no honeymoon to speak of.All we ever did was work, and try to do for everyone else.
We were taking care of my mother after my dad passed away,my stepson had decided we owed him a living,my husband's health was failing, having to go through 3 heart surgeries in 5 years. We finally decided we needed to do for us.We took our long awaited trip to Hawaii.
It was a dream come true for us as we never really thought we would ever be able to go on a trip like this.
We found out by going that we were never more in love, that our love was stronger today than 5 years ago when we said I do.As the sun would go down, and we would walk back to our hotel,we would look at each other and say "I love you-even more than this morning." And in the morning, when we would watch the sun come up together, we would say, "one more day together-I just wish it were another year instead of another day".
There is no one in the world that I could ever love as much as David. And I know he feels the same.Hawaii made us realize, we must live today, love today, and be grateful for every tomorrow we have.
And in the meantime, we must also plan to go back to our heaven on earth. That way we can be reminded of the things we must do daily. You should love your spouse every day as much as when you took that wonderful trip to that magical place- HAWAII.
They say Ohio is the heart of it all. But Hawaii has all of my heart.
