Taking a Chance...
Dedicated to My Wife, Karen
Submitted by Anonymous
The weather was cold in Pittsburgh and my love life had even been colder. I decided to take a vacation to Hawaii to get away from the snow and wind and begin to search for that special someone who could warm my heart.
As I sat waiting for my flight to take-off, I noticed a beautiful woman boarding the airplane. As she began to walk down the aisle, I hoped that her ticket would find her placed in the seat immediately next to mine. As she approached my row, I became more and more hopeful that this incredible woman would be seated next to me. The flight attendant asked if I would move so that this woman could sit down in the seat next to mine. Awestruck by her beauty, I delayed momentarily but pulled myself together and obeyed the flight attendant's orders.
As the plane took-off, we introduced ourselves and began to talk. We found that we had many of the same interests and beliefs. This was the woman that I had been looking for all of my life. All through the flight, I continually thought about how I could not allow this woman to walk out of my life. As we approached to land, I asked her if she would be available to meet me for dinner while in Hawaii. She enthusiastically agreed that we would meet for dinner in the next couple of days.
For the next couple of days, I couldn't think about anything other than this beautiful, incredible woman that I had met on the flight. It seemed like an eternity, but the night that I was to meet her finally arrived. I brought a bouquet of tropical flowers and told her that I would be taking her to Hawaii's finest restaurant. Not only was the scenery of Hawaii beautiful, but I was in the company of the most beautiful woman on the planet. The ocean was being illuminated by the moon and the shadows of the tropical foliage created a scene that is only captured in the finest photographs. The time with her seemed to pass so quickly. I didn't want the night to end, but we decided that we would see each other again soon. A few days later, we toured the volcanoes and lava flows together. Wow, talk about heating things up! We enjoyed each others' company so much that we haven't stopped seeing each other since our trip to Hawaii.
Within a few months, I found myself asking this wonderful woman to marry me. We were married shortly thereafter, and it has been a wonderful adventure ever since our chance Hawaiian meeting. Even now, ten years and two beautiful daughters later, I am still in awe her beauty and strength.
