Kowalski Thread--the tie that bound Dedicated to Husband, David Daniel Submitted by Kathy After talking for hours on the telephone, we decided it was time to meet in person. Kowalski's Cafe was decided for the rendezvous as a safe, common location. Upon arriving first, I note that the cafe was no longer in business and David's VW was no where in site. I waited a few minutes, and he pulled in, also oblivious to the long-gone Kowalski sisters' cafe. I got out of my car car first anxious to see him and his 4 year old son, Dustin. It was Dustin's immediate acceptance of me that led us to a nearby restaurant for coffee that fateful morning. That began our life together, 10 years ago. We later discovered that Kowalski sisters had moved to a different location. A specialty Valentine's dinner at their new restaurant by reservation only was being planned. What an appropriate place for us to celebrate our first Valentine's Day together. David called and they were full. He told them the story about our first meeting, and they made sure we spent the evening with them. And so that night, with a gourmet meal and a bottle of Argyle Brut, I received an engagement ring! We married 4 months later. Our plans to marry in Hawaii were not realized, as we knew exchanging our vows before family was most important; therefore our wedding was in Indiana. Later, we were thrilled to spend our November birthdays together in Waikiki. It is our dream to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in Hawaii this June 1. Hawaii is God's gift to the world, my husband David is God's personal gift to me.
