Keep the Dream Alive Dedicated to My honey, David Submitted by Anonymous I nearly lost David. We had been together two years and were planning a romantic get away when disaster struck. In great pain he drove to the hospital thinking it was a bad back, only to learn that his lungs were full of fluid and his oxygen intake too low. For 3 weeks, I sat bedside, in intensive care, praying that I could give him the courage and will to survive the endless blood tests, x-rays, CT scans, and invasive and painful breathing tube, ivs, catheter, chest drainage tube and the unsettling news that he might only be able to feed himself through a stomach tube for the rest of his life. I reminded him daily of our dream to go to Hawaii to spend days together laughing and playing on pristine beaches and passionate nights dancing under the stars. Thanks to God and the miracles of medical science, the doctors worked their magic. Of course, I would like to believe that my urgings to keep our Hawaiian dream alive gave him hope and inspiration in those dark days of despair. David's now on the mend and has even started eating again! For our celebration of his recovery, we're planning to fulfill our Hawaiian dream for Valentine's Day. Paradise, here we come!
