Taking my Grandmother's Advice Dedicated to Josephine Blanco Submitted by Jennifer Years ago, my family gave my grandparents a trip to Hawaii for their 45th Anniversary. It had been a dream of theirs for a long time. Watching the way my grandfather looked at my grandmother was breathtaking. Their love was so strong for one another and I would hope my turn to feel that way would come along. They loved every second of their trip to the islands of Hawaii. I still listen to the same stories my grandmother tells about it over and over again. You can hear the longing in her voice of those cherished times when my grandfather was still here with her. Her advice to me once I married was to go to Hawaii while I was young. Then, you will have the chance to go back together again. A chance they didn't have. This past year I was lucky enough to celebrate my 3rd Anniversary with my husband Chris in Hawaii. The romance of the islands was amazing, just as my grandmother described it. It was truly wonderful to look into my husband's eyes and know that I had found what my grandparents had. We both spent time exploring the magic of Hawaii and the magic of being together. I knew the value of this time through my grandmother's eyes. I appreciated every moment on the islands with my husband. And I hope that someday I will have the chance to do as my grandmother wished and experience them again with the one I love.
