Love Stories of Hawaii

Special Occasion

Lifetime of Happiness
Dedicated to My Husband

Submitted by Carey

The house creaked as the winter wind blew, snow was falling outside and it looked as if it was going to be a long winter. Caitey snuggled in closer to Jack, feeling the warmth of his body not wanting to get up just yet. Over the 9 years that they had been married their love has brought them though many obstacles, but at this moment they were faced with the possibility of never being able to have children. Could their love pull them over this barrier? The alarm began blaring pulling Caitey back to reality. There was so much to look forward today. They were going on their dream vacation to Hawaii. They had been planning this vacation for over two years, wanting to see every inch of the islands, taking in the beauty and customs but most of all, having time to accept their lives together without children.

Their first few days flew by with the many activities they had planned. By the third day Caitey was feeling sick and decided that a day by the ocean was in order. The warm sun and ocean breeze made them more relaxed then they had been in years. They remained there as the sun set with spectacular colors. The next morning Caitey felt even worse and decided that she should see a doctor on the island to be sure that it was not something that would spoil the remainder of their vacation. Jack had gone parasailing and was going to take a helicopter ride so he would be gone for hours, hopefully enough time for the doctor to give her something so she felt well enough to visit Kauai that afternoon. After several tests the doctor entered the room, calmly explaining to her that the reason for her illness was that she was pregnant. She was pregnant! The words rang in Caitey's ears over and over. What was she going to tell Jack?

Caitey had gone back to the hotel room for a nap and was awake and full of energy when Jack returned. They grabbed their hiking gear and headed for the Kalakau Trail. Jack thought Caitey seemed strangely quiet as they made their way though the rough terrain, but she insisted that nothing was wrong, worrying Jack more then a little. All was forgotten though when they saw the Hanakapi'ai Falls. Caitey threw off her shoes and headed towards the water. Jack followed her lead putting his arms around her under the waterfall. Caitey whispered the news of her pregnancy into his ear. As tears stung in his eyes he grabbed Caitey and began kissing her as the water fell around them. That night they laid in each other's arms, holding each other tight, knowing the vacation they took to help them forget their dreams was the beginning of a lifetime of happiness.
