He loved me just the way I am. Dedicated to Donald Cytko Submitted by Susan My story started in 1976 in London England. I worked at the YWCA, and had many good friends but no boyfriend, being plump and plain. So I wrote to penfriends from all around the world even Hawaii. They were fun to write to and they could not see what I looked like! My mind set was that I would be a spinster with a cat for the rest of my life, until one of my penfriends wrote back to say he was going to visit London with his cousin and we could meet. He came nameless, was loud rough and ready and very insensitive, while his cousin said nothing the first day and was polite. My friends knew who they liked the most and so did I. They were there for 10 days and I showed them round the UK,and in that time I fell in love with Don.When it came time for him to leave, I could not stop crying all the way to the airport. What a fool I felt, the water works would not stop. We wrote to each other for a year, and then I got frustrated with the whole situation of him being so far away and broke it off.The minute I posted the letter I wished I had not. Three weeks later he wrote to me and it said. "Meet me at Heathrow airport, September 9th at 11.00 am, and be there". We spent three weeks together, and when the weeks were coming to an end he asked me to marry him and we got married in 3 days. We never did have a real honeymoon.Hawaii seems just as special as my marraige,and just as enduring. We have been married now for 26 years. I love him more and more.
