A longtime dream of Hawaii Dedicated to Dave, the love of my life Submitted by Barbara For many years I have dreamed of visiting the beautiful islands of Aloha! I have several videos of Hawaii I watch from time to time. Realizing how much I am in love with Hawaii, someone even brought back special souvenirs from Hawaii when they visited there. No doubt, you could certainly say my heart is in Hawaii...I believe in the Aloha spirit! After staying home and bringing up four wonderful sons and now finally having a chance to enjoy life a little ourselves, my husband and I planned to spend two weeks in Hawaii in May, in celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary last June. Unfortunately, the love of my life had a stroke in November and was entirely paralyzed on his left side. Since then he has struggled to gain back his mobility. Miraculously, he can walk short distances, but is still receiving rehabilitation for his left arm. Our dream is still to see Hawaii...someday...to relax on a beautiful lanai looking at a gorgeous Hawaii sunset; to sense the sacrifices made by brave men as we look with respect and sadness at the Arizona Memorial; to soak up the beauty of Maui and Kuaui, and the wonder of Molokai and the special people who are a part of that unique island...most especially to be part of the beautiful Aloha spirit of islands that have always reached out to other peoples -- even from the very beginnings of their settlement from those brave people who traveled so many many miles and were the first inhabitants of Hawaii and began the true Aloha spirit.
