Missed Opportunity
Dedicated to My Sister LaVerne

Submitted by Elaine

Dear Sis,

Thanks for the call from Hawaii today. Couldn't resist the opportunity to rub it in,eh? Just a friendly reminder of our first and only trip there, when we met up with you and Kim. Yea, I know you invited us along this time too. But you set the time first and my hubby cannot get away then. Soon, we'll be retired and then we'll be freer to travel. Just remember, we have to save up some money if we go to Australia for our 30th anniversay.

So, you were sitting at Bubba Gumps again and watching the waves roll in the little silver fishes. Yes,I remember we ate breakfast there every morning, Kim's favorite place! Too bad your friends couldn't go you either, but it's nice to hear that Kevin is on the way with his girlfriend.

Why waste tbe space in that lovely condo.

Too bad you didn't ask Mother. She really wantsto go back to Hawaii...but she did get there twice before. I cnnot recall what islands, but if we could come back, I'd like to go back to Oahu at least. Dennis got his back up plan rolling with the Magnun PI series that he watches every night. He always freezes the frame when he sees a place that we visited.

And what place did we leave unturned? None!!!

We did those two island over like pros. Had it all plotted out so as to fit it in our small space of time. It would be nice to return to Hawaii every year, but there are other places I also yearn to see. If money was no object, I too would be a condo owner on the Big Island. Tehn I could be the hotshot inviting all my friends to tail along!

So the weather is nice? The breeze is delightful, the water soothing. Ah, those sandy jacuzzis! See any turtles yet? Are you going back to locate the green sandy beach? And is the volcano still flowing like it was?

I am envious. However, our kids also want to see Hawaii and it's just not feasible at this time, colin with his new job and Laura in university. You know teachers cannot get away either unless school's out. Even I sometimes have trouble plotting my vacations out 4 months in advance a little difficult. Please consider that next year before you book!

Well, you could certainly buy me a little gift if you wish. No string bikinis or muumuus. Maybe some Kona coffee, some noni juice, coconut syrup, or beads from Hilo Hatties. I suppose you are eating auhi and pineapple all the time. Yummy.

Don't forget to e-mail some photos, you know...to really rub it in??? I'll look for some tomorrow as I'm sure Kim is clicking away. How can one resist when there's scenery like that!

Have a good time and a safe journey. Wish we were there!

Love Elaine
