A Simple Word Dedicated to Janelle Submitted by Loren Hawaii. Look at that word for a moment. Say it out loud. This is a word that holds great power. Even as I sit at my keyboard on a chilly February day in Oregon, it has the power to soothe and warm me. This simple word, unlocks Magic. Instantly I can see the velvet purple of an orchid fade into a dew-dropped, starburst of frosted white. Oranges and yellows rumble past that emit a frequency of royalty, strength, and pride. The images move faster now; Beach towel silhouettes of lovers entwined, Smudgy red surfboard wax, the sharp green spikes of a palm, an oozing volcanic glow…. Then it happens. All other images are washed in blue, that lush, Pacific Blue. It must be the only blue that I equate with warmth. This is a temperature that penetrates deeper than your skin and tugs at you, until it unravels all the knots. It is a Blue that you can submerge yourself in, or drift away on. It is the Blue, if Love was Blue. This is a place for Love. This is a place that celebrates Love. I want to take her there. I want to marry her in a forest and then fly away to that island. I want to hold her hand and whisper to her when the sky catches fire. I want to kiss her and taste the sweet Blue salt of the ocean on her lips. I want to wear flowers and laugh with her. I want to take her to an island with a name that is almost as enchanted as her own. Janelle, I want to take you to Hawaii.
