Heaven in Hawaii Dedicated to My Darling Husband, Bob Submitted by Barbara Leaving our Kihei condo on Maui at 4:30 a.m. to drive to the summit of Haleakala left my husband and me wondering, "Just how stupid are we? We're on vacation!" We had read and been told what a beautiful sight it was to watch the sun rise at 10,000 feet. We were not disappointed. Wrapped in blankets to keep us warm from the cold temperatures and harsh wind, we stood with the other curious tourists. In the blink of an eye, our clear evening gave way to clouds that settled in. The mountain below us became blanketed by layers of cotton balls that engulfed the entire area. As the sun started rising above the clouds, it left us breathless. This was a mystical experience of the greatest magnitude, and it stirred strong emotions in both of us. We have been married 33 years and we have never been in such a romantic setting. As I stood there with my husband's arms around me watching this amazing spectacle that happens day after day, I realized that I now know what it will be like when my husband and I are together in heaven. We experienced Hawaii's heaven together that day.
