April Dedicated to Grammy Submitted by Amanda When I think about Hawaii, I see it through the eyes of a curious 7 year old. That's how old I was when My Great-Grandmother took me to Oahu for the first time. I've never seen anything so beautiful in my whole life. The trees, the ocean, the people, everything. I have never seen so many happy people, people who are enjoying life, and enjoying a wonderful vacation in paradise. She took me everywhere you could think of. I remember it all like it happened yesterday. I remember the zoo and the beaches the fancy restarunts and the beautiful hotels. My grammy was my best friend in the whole world. The only person I could count on when the world had let me down. She did everything she could to make my difficult childhood the best it could have possibly been, and for that, i am forever in her debt. Hawaii was her favorite place to go. I went with her several times and I loved every minute we were there. It's been 8 years since she's passed, and my life will never be the same without her. Everytime I think of her warm smile and big hugs, I think of Hawaii and everything we shared there. I like to think of Hawaii as our special place. Now I am all grown up and married to the most wonderful, loving man in the world. I like to believe that my Grammy sent him to me from Heaven as a gift, and I'm so thankful that she did because he makes the pain of not having my best friend here easier. There is nothing I would love more than to be able to share my special place with my wondeful husband. I know being able to go back to Hawaii would be the most emotional thing we would ever do together. I want to share the pure happiness that I felt there along those beaches with him, because he is my everything now. He deserves a vacation. He works so hard to take care of me and make sure I want for nothing. He is truly a special man and I thank God and my Grammy everyday for having him in my life. Going to Hawaii with him would be the greatest gift.
