A Dream Vacation Dedicated to My Husband Mike Submitted by Anonymous My husband and I went on a vacation to Kona, Hawaii for the wedding of a childhood friend of his. He had never been to Hawaii and it was my second time, but it had been 12 years since I had gone. We stayed at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott (where our friends got married). It was the most romantic trip of my life. My husband and I bonded emotionally and spiritually more than we ever had dreamed of. We had the time of our life. We had romantic dinners, strolls on the beach, late night swims,breakfast on our balcony overlooking the ocean, dancing and had many conversations about life. We rented a red convertible Ford Mustang and drove around the entire island, we took a helicopter ride in Hilo and flew over the erupting Mauna Kea Volcano. It was so beautiful. We spent lots of time on the beach relaxing and talking about our dreams and lifetime goals. My husband even came to an epiphany that he would love to write books (fact and fiction). And the major decision we made while in Hawaii was that we are ready to start making preparations to have a family of our own. We have been married 4 years and we have been a couple for 12 years. Yes, we are high school sweethearts. We were so "in love" with Hawaii that we immediately began looking at real estate. We did not want to leave the island. It was truly life changing to be in such a beautiful environment. It really put life into perspective. Of course, when we returned home the reality of our regular life was back in action. To pick up and move our lives to Hawaii where we have no family or friends or jobs...seemed a little crazy. Even though, when we were there we couldn't imagine wanting to be anywhere else in the world. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for Hawaii. Maybe someday we will find ourselves able to relocate there. In the meantime, we would like to get there every chance we get. We would like to visit all the islands. (We only got to go to the Main Island-Hawaii.) Hawaii is amazing. Being there with my husband made me fall in love with him even more than I knew was possible. His ability to make me feel like I am the most important person in the world is so comforting and wonderful. He is my best friend and most of all my knight in shining armour. I would love to spend another wonderful vacation in Hawaii with him. Our lives can be so crazy sometimes with our careeres and financial demands. Hawaii to us is somewhere we can menatlly go anytime to seek some peace in the day. We would love to create more memories of the islands that we hold so closly to our hearts.
