Love, You Know DaKine Dedicated to Aliena Maples Submitted by Douglas We were both living in Hawaii. I was in the military and Aliena was an elementary school guidance counselor. We met in Hawaii and fell in love. Just when I thought things were finally coming together for us, I got orders to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. We thought she would come with, but she wanted to say in Hawaii to finish out the school year. I wrote her this poem before leaving... Love, You Know DaKine The time we spent in paradise, Has changed the way I look at my life. My Happiness, my fears in my heart and in my mind, Put them with yours, you know dakine. I know is a short time I will have to go, But my heart will stay resting in paradise... So our love will grow. Love, Nathan After staying in Hawaii for 8 more months after my departure, she finally moved to North Carolina and we got married. We are both very happy, I am at Fort Bragg, and she is an elementary school guidance counselor in Hope Mills, however, we would both love to go back to Hawaii where we first met and fell in love. She has always said that the hardest thing about leaving paradise was leaving alone. Her dream would be for us both to be on the plane when we say goodbye to our paradise.
