Our Honeymoon to 25th Anniversary
Dedicated to Chuck Hutchison
Submitted by Anonymous
Chuck and I were married during my senior year in high school with our parents wondering if we knew what we were getting into and our friends wondering if it would ever last. That was January of 1970.
January 15, 1995, Chuck surprised me with a basket full of airline tickets and reservations for a seven day stay at the Royal Lahaina through Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays. He had even contacted my employer and made arrangements to ensure I would be able to get the time off from work. He had been planning this trip to Hawaii to celebrate: first the Honeymoon we never had and our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, since the spring before, he wanted everything perfect.
January 21, 1995, we were greeted at the airport with flower leis and the memories began. We flew by helicopter around Maui (I hate to fly), we rode bicycles down Haleakala (our boys couldn't believe mom rode a bike 37 miles), and during the Luau when newlyweds were invited on stage to learn the hula we joined them. This honeymoon was worth waiting for. My husband had taken such care to make sure everything on everyday was perfect down to the wonderful humpback whale show we enjoyed during a wonderful sunset cruise dinner on our anniversary.
I would love a chance to return the favor and surprise my husband, as this January we celebrate our35th anniversary, and a second honeymoon would be so special with another visit to Hawaii for more memories.
Thank you for letting me share my story of a wonderful man and father.
