25th Dedicated to Ron Ens Submitted by Cindy It was our 25th anniversary.....we had decided to go to Hawaii....Ron said, "Let's do it all, we won't be back." Soooo....17 days later....we had fallen in Love with Hawaii and have wanted to go back ever since.... The summer before our daughter got married July 11th...we decided to celebrate our 25th with having a separate cake at the reception for her wedding, for us and hang my wedding dress on a mannequin and display our wedding picture....we didn't realize our daughter organized 25 ministers to be there for our 25th (my husband is a minister).....it was fun and truly a memory... Our actual anniversary we went to a ski resort in August and went up on the gondola and stayed in the quaint town....we went around a golf course there... Then in Sept our son got married in Minneapolis and HIS in laws celebrated their 25th at HIS wedding reception...his in laws then moved to Russia... We lived in northern BC and winter's can be harsh so we decided to save our Hawaiian trip for the winter... We landed in Honolulu in February....got a cab....dropped our luggage at our room....we were amazed at the lobbies with no walls...."What about rain?" I asked...."We just pull the furniture back from the opening was the reply." We walked non-stop for 6 hours.....we had anticipated this adventure for months... We did the internationtal market...the next day took a tour to the Polynesian cultural center....rented a car and went up the west coast...found the flea market at the stadium...went twice... Got to Big Island the second week....toured the island...stayed first in Hilo and an historic high-ceiling bed and breakfast and again the last day there...we were facinated by the 'ranch' in desert like land and around a bend back to jungle-like growth....saw the historic statues at the top of the island and the neat hundreds-of-years-old Hawaiin 'village' on the west side and all the lava rocks....enjoyed Kona.....goofed on the next night....had a reservation for the top of island instead of bottom so quickly got a room at Volcano village....saw the volcano movie...drove through the crater...walked through the tunnel....but drove on and then realized couldn't see fire from the side we were on....went on to Hilo...loved the falls... Last week my husband said 'When are we going to slow down...? I said, "on Maui"....third day on Maui he asked what my plans were...I said..."slow down"....we read...walked the beach...Had the beach to ourselves at 8 p.m....had very comfortable room...went to a luau.. We want to go back for our 32nd anniversary!!
