My Knight in Shining Armor
Dedicated to Theo Horesco

Submitted by Anonymous

I was running ragged the week before Halloween. I was overworking myself and had just come off the best marathon ever a few weeks before, and I was getting a little depressed that I wasn't training anymore. I was tired and cranky and not very pleasant to be around. I was looking forward to Friday night. We swore we'd do nothing but hang out and watch t.v. But when I arrived home from work Friday afternoon, Theo told me that he'd really like me to dress up as a "pretty princess" for Halloween on Sunday. I told him that I'd do it another time - in order to make it a good princess outfit, I had to go to my parents' house an hour away and get a dress worthy of a princess. Plus, we weren't doing anything for Halloween - no parties, no trick-or-treating, nothing. He begged and begged and said that it had to be for Halloween. So we got in the car and drove to my parents' that night, only to turn back around and drive back to our house the next morning to go to our respective jobs. Saturday night would then be the relaxing t.v. night that we had planned for Friday. Saturday night came, and Theo apologized but said we had to go to his parents' house because a friend who lived near them needed his help moving a couch. So I packed up the car and picked him up from work, only to have him ask me if I had brought my "princess uniform" with me to show his parents. I hadn't. So he again apologized profusely, but made me drive back home to get it. At this point I was in tears. I was so exhausted that all I wanted to do was just sit and do nothing. We made it to his parents' house later that evening and he went out for an hour and returned and we went to sleep.

The next day was Sunday and Halloween. All morning Theo and his parents begged me to put on the "princess uniform." Finally I did, but I couldn't find Theo. I went outside looking for him, and found him sitting on a HORSE in a full suit of armor. He got off the horse and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him (in front of the two women who owned the horse, and his parents who were video-taping and taking pictures) and of course I said yes. He didn't need to help a friend move his couch - he was doing some last-minute riding with the horse in full gear so the horse wouldn't be afraid. And all those times he was going to hang out with friends or help them move - he was really riding the horse and getting used to it.

We are planning on taking our honeymoon in Hawaii after the wedding in July 2005.
