A Lifetime Dream Dedicated to Dorothy and Richard Submitted by Sherrial When I was a little girl, my cousin, Dorothy went to Hawaii with the armed forces as a nurse and met Richard, a native Hawaiian. They fell in love, got married, remained in Hawaii and lived happily ever after. Dorothy and Richard had five little Hawaiian children. When the first one, a little girl, named Susan, was born, my Aunt Mildred and cousin Mary went to see Dorothy and Richard and help with the new baby. Mary and I were the same age. We were about nine yrs. old then. When Mary came home, he taught me how to do one of the hula dances she had learned and introduced me to Roberta through correspondence. Roberta became my Hawaiian pen pal for yrs. to come. As an adult, now Dorothy and I keep in touch, writing to each other. She sends me a calendar every year with the scenes of Hawaii. I have always dreamed of going to Hawaii, seeing Dorothy again and the beautiful tropical islands of Hawaii. I have been married now for 22 yrs. I retired from my job 2 yrs. ago after 33 yrs. with the same company. My friends and my family have gone on vacations to Hawaii but it has never been my turn yet. Now it has become a dream to share with my husband, Chuck. in our retirement yrs. I hope soon to see you there in Hawaii. Aloha!
