Dedicated to Jeanne and Earl
Submitted by Anonymous
In 2000, friends of ours planned on a trip for four of us to Waikiki Beach, Oahu and Kauai. Our friend named Jeanne contacted her daughter, a travel agent from the SF bay area, to make arrangements. We were booked in an ocean view condo at the Waikiki Shores Condominum and a condo on Poipu Beach, Kauai.
Plans went along very well for several weeks prior to a May departure, until Jeanne's husband Earl suffered a major stroke about four weeks prior to the departure date.
Travel plans didn't look good for our friends Jeanne and Earl, but he was determined to make the trip. After several weeks of rehabilitation he was well enough to get around with a cane and walker. With some planning at the airport and help from airline employees, the trip to the Hawaiian Islands was uneventful.
Upon arriving at the Waikiki Shores Condominium, we were upgraded to an ocean front condo. Earl really enjoyed people watching from our deck. The condo was handicap accessible and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The trip over to Kauai was equally enjoyable. Earl enjoyed seeing the sights, but liked the excitment of the many things going in Honolulu.
It just proves that everyone was so helpful with people that are in need of assistance after an illness or having a stroke. Earl was so looking forward to the travels to the Islands and we enjoyed being there for them.
The Hawaiian Islands are so perfect for someone in his condition and we look forward to visiting with them again soon.
