Angels are real Dedicated to Luis Submitted by Anonymous We spent two weeks in Hawaii, and had just flown back to Honolulu on the way home. With an eight hour layover we decided to rent a car. There were about 20 people in line at the rental car office. A man came over to us, pulled us out of line, heard what we wanted, and rented us a brand new convertible for $10.00 "because I can." We were determined to eat at a sushi restaurant which did not open for another hour. So we wandered through the International Market Place in Waikiki to kill time. Rather than wind our way back through again, I decided to try a shortcut through a nearby alley. A short distance down the alley sat a large Hawaiian woman wearing a garland of greenery around her head. She sat at a table full of gorgeous flowers. The smell was intoxicating. I walked over to her and admired the flowers. "You take some home", she said. I told her that we were leaving shortly for the mainland. "No money -- free" she answered. Then she sewed together 2 leis. They were incredibly beautiful. She had each of us put a lei on the other. We thanked her profusely and continued down the alley. But a joggle proved to be a dead end, so we turned around. There was no lady, no table, no flowers, nothing in that alley. We had goosebumps the size of volcanoes! In Hawaii, love can actually materialize people and objects from the "mana" which permiates the islands.
