Eugene & Kyoko Dedicated to My mother, Kyoko Nonaka Submitted by Anonymous In 1959 my family moved from Japan back to the United States. My father, Eugene Panarelli, an Italian/American soldier had met and married the love of his life - my mother, Kyoko Nonaka - while stationed in Yokohama. It was there that my brother, sister and I were born. Our flight home took us through beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii, and it was always my parents dream to return there someday. That dream came true in 1986 when I met my father and mother in Oahu, and we spent a heavenly week at the Turtle Bay Hilton Resort on the North Shore. Two years later my mother died of leukemia, and my father has never been the same. Time has since healed much of the pain that one experiences from losing a loved one, but it has always been MY dream to take my father back to Oahu because he often mentions that trip and how memorable it was. To this day, I remember lying on the beach with my parents - never having seen them so happy and at peace with themselves - as we were enveloped by the warm, ocean breezes and the special healing energy that one only finds in Hawaii. It is no wonder that the military sent so many wounded soldiers there to heal after WW II. It is one of the few places left today where one can find peace in such a troubled world.
