When I Dream Dedicated to Hawaii Submitted by Carolyn When I dream, my spirit takes me to the tropical shores of Hawaii, the land my soul longs for and calls home. I dream of what can not be or can it be? Why does my heart feel so heavy? Why do I feel such a strong tug at my heartstrings when I hear about Hawaii, hear Hawaiian music, see pictures or images of Hawaii? Why does this have to be or does it? Is it a fantasy or a real desire this love affair with Hawaii? When will I go home to where my heart yearns to be? Must I wait till I die or can it happen in time to enjoy what my heart so longs for? Am I to wait and fulfill my grandfather's desire to be buried at sea, my ashes scattered to the tradewinds over the oceans of Hawaii? Please hearken to my plea. Show me what is real and what is only surreal. Why the loneliness, the separation, the anxieties, the longing? If we are to live our dreams then why aren't I living mine? What am I missing?
