A Muddy Secret Dedicated to Milton B. Swift Submitted by Linda Daisy's lips formed into a gentle smile as she embraced the wedding picture of she and Maxwell. After a three year courtship and a small but romantic wedding, they were now living "happily ever after" in a modest complex on the east side of town. Together they shared many dreams and hopes... but the one dream that lingered in her mind was the "lost honeymoon" to Hawaii. They had saved and sacrificed for their trip to paradise, but an unexpected family emergency consumed their savings and eliminated their plans for a blissful Hawaiian honeymoon. Today, however, appeared an opportunity to recapture the dream trip! The local paper had an ad for a travel agency with a zany idea: The travel agency was giving away an exclusive trip for two to Hawaii by sponsoring a female mud wrestling competition! "Nothing sleazy or provocative..." the ad read..."just an old-fashioned brawl for the trip of a lifetime!" Daisy knew Maxwell would NEVER approve of his polite, demure, librarian wife wallowing in mud for the sake of a trip --- but she had to try! Fortunately, the event was scheduled for Saturday, Maxwell's bowling day --- he wouldn't be around to question her whereabouts. At the event, Daisy discovered ten other gutsy women. Each randomly selected a key and the two whose keys opened the Hawaiian treasure chest would compete. Daisy's key fit (!) and she was paired with "Zola." When the bell sounded, Zola grabbed her unmercifully and within seconds, Daisy's face and dignity were wallowing in mud. Minutes later, Zola was the obvious victor. Breathless, Daisy looked up to discover a television camera pointed at her --- and the bewildered face of Maxwell!! "I was driving by... saw the crowd... came to see what was happening... don't believe this!!!" Daisy stared speechlessly as he continued: "Tomorrow's our first wedding anniversary. If you'd just waited... " He wiped the mud from her hands and handed her a brochure with "Hawaii" printed in bold tropical colors with an itinerary enclosed. A smile brightened her face as she realized he was surprising her with a trip to Hawaii! Maxwell softly wiped her lips, kissed her, then whispered: "See what happens when you keep a dirty secret?!!?"
