Beneath my Nose Dedicated to Chris Submitted by Dawn All my life I searched for the "perfect man" the perfect love, my soul mate. I made many mistakes in the love area. Everytime my heart broke it seemed as it would never heal. My first marriage was far from perfect. He had problems I knew nothing about. Eventually we seperated when I realized the extent of his problems and he didn't want to give up his lifestlye for me, our daughter, or even himself. We started dating again a month after I left him and he promised he would change. Unfortunatley a car accident took his life, whether or not he would have, we will never know. I dated all the wrong men after that. I think I picked them on purpose. I couldnt count on men that couldnt really be mine, they couldnt leave me if they were never here to begin with. Then my life changed with something a friend of mine said to me one night. She said "you have been looking for a good guy for years now and there has been one right under your nose all along." Turning twords the bar where he was standing was my friend Chris. It's true he was a nice guy, but he was my friend, and more than that he was 6 years younger than me. I never thought he would be interested in me THAT way. As the night went on and the drinks kept comming I became more thoughtful to what she had said. Eventually it was only he and I left at the table. I decided to go for it. I was filled with courage (also known as Captain Morgan) and turned to him, grabbed him by the sides of his head and kissed him. The most amazing feeling came over me. I felt like I had found the place I should be, the place I was looking for all along. We have been together ever since. He is now my fiancee and we will be married in June, and all along he was right there. Right under my nose. If all goes according to plan we will celebrate our love, friendship, trust, and committment in a sundrenched honeymoon in Hawaii.
