A Honeymoon - with the kids Dedicated to Dawn Submitted by Anonymous I lived in Hawaii for about a year while completing a degree in business. As well as finishing my university studies, I had hoped to meet a girl. After all, it was Hawaii. But although many friendships were formed, none of them were romantic. Still, I had a crazy dream that I would be back. My future wife and I would take our honeymoon in Hawaii where I could show her all the beauty of the islands. After leaving Hawaii I was hired as a corporate auditor, a job that required me to travel the globe. It was a great career, which allowed me to meet so many people and experience many diverse cultures. However, since I was never in any city for longer than a few weeks, I could never develop a long-term relationship. All the while I had this desire to meet someone who could share my life. It would be nice to call a place "home" and have someone waiting there for me. So, after several years of globetrotting I decided to settle down in one city. I applied and was accepted as an instructor, teaching at a community college. While teaching at this college I met a lady, Dawn, who would later become my wife. She was a student in one of my classes along with thirty or so others. I got to know her just as well as any of the other students over the next couple of years. There was nothing romantic, but I admired her for taking a full course load while working and raising two young kids. I don't know how she did it. A couple of days after Dawn graduated from college, she asked me to attend a hockey game with her. That turned out to be our first date and from then on, the days and weeks flew by. Our love seemed to come naturally and the more I learned about her, the more I loved her. Dawn and I felt like we had known each other for years, and I suppose we had learned a lot about each other during her college days. So, after only a few months of dating, I asked her to marry me. There seemed to be meaning in my life now and I wanted to keep it. We successfully blended our lives, including her two kids, and have now been married almost nine years. I cannot imagine two people being closer than us. In Dawn I see all the things I always wished for in someone. She shows so much warmth and care. Our life together has been special, always trusting and loving. But, the one thing I regret is that I never took her on a honeymoon. At that time I felt the kids might not have understood me taking their mother away. Now, the kids have all grown up and I would love to take Dawn on that honeymoon to Hawaii. With that, the dream I wanted most to come true would.
