Affinity Dedicated to Vernis Submitted by Tracy It seemed too good to be true. He was kind, smart and sane...and in love me. But as time went by and our dating turned from weeks to months, the signs and portents of the universe lined up to convince me that he is the man he seems to be...imperfect, but perfect for me. It's uncanny, the way we like the same foods, things to do, smells, all of it. We watch very little television, but that which we watch, we like the same things. We both read a lot and more often than not have read the same authors. There is so much affinity between us. I'm constantly amazed by how we are drawn to the same things. Even obscure things. We both like to save money by cooking in and then to splurge on things that really matter such as fine resorts when traveling and "fun money" while on vacation such as a beautiful crystal bowl for remembering or a convertible rental car rather than the standard, every day wheels. When he asked me to marry him, although surprised, I didn't have to wonder---I knew I was blessed and that this affinity between us was a thing of wonder. Together, we are something that was meant to be. So when the subject of where, when, how to get married was discussed, it didn't surprise me at all that the first word out of our mouths, said in almost the same breath was: Hawaii.
