My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on Kauai, Hawaii on September 11th. The beauty of our long awaited trip was shattered with a 3 AM phone call from our daughter detailing the horrific events of the day. Days after the initial shock wore off, we found a unique kind of peace and happiness between us knowing we were stranded alone, yet together and safe, on the most beautiful island in the world.
