Secret Love

Meant to Be
Dedicated to Payton

Submitted by Stephanie

I spent the first fifteen years of my life hopeless and depressed, and often suicidal. My family situation was terrible, and I was emotionally abused on a daily basis. The abuse was actually so severe that it took a toll on my physical health as well, stirring up the horrible symptoms of Diabetes i'd never dealt with since I was diagnosed at seven. By the time I was forced to leave my home, my feet and legs were curling up, leaving me paralyzed by the pain. . and worst of all, with a mother that never sought out treatment.

Meanwhile, since I was abandoned by my mother a little over a year ago (my father left in 1986), my health has been fine, and I was able to finish high school two years early (i'm 16 now) after being forced to drop out after sixth grade against my wishes. Since my mother left, i've lived with a friend and her family who have been gracious enough to care for me as if I were their own child.

After I graduated, I worked hard to earn the money to go to community college, where I met an incredible man who I believe i've loved since the moment I saw him. I'd never believed in "true love" or "love at first sight", but when I saw him for the first time, I couldn't take my eyes off him, I wanted so badly just to know him, and it wasn't like I was flirting, in fact, I never approached him. But for the next two months, I noticed him everyday, always silently wondering what made him so special, why I couldn't get him off my mind. One day, I came to class late, and he noticed me too. He must've had a similar reaction because after class, he literally ran after me just to introduce himself. Things developed slowly, especially because i've always been so guarded, but we've found a love together that has truly changed both of our lives. We've been engaged for five months now, and are impatiently awaiting our marriage. Unfortunately, in my situation, i'll need some help to get there. I would love to be married at Pukalini Falls in Hawaii, just my fiance and I, and help getting there would be appreciated, but more than that, if those of you who chose to read this and have any idea how much love and respect my fiance and I feel for each other, please just keep us in prayer, so that soon we'll find a way to make our dream of starting our life together come true.
