When I knew Dedicated to My wife; Terry Pohja Submitted by Larry I was station at Pearl Harbor Submarine BAse from 1960-1964. I original came from Minneapolis, Mn but when my Father died, my Mother and my brothers moved to Burbank, Caifornia where my Mother was from. While I had been growing up in Minneapolis, I had been seening this girl, Terry. Before I left for California, I had sort of broken up with her. After attending Boot camp in San Diego, I was assigned to Pearl HArbor. Being only 19 and away from home, I was some what lonely so I started to write to Terry. She and two of her friends decided to visit Hawaii and to see if there was still anything between us, if not as least she had a good vacation to the Islands. This was just about the time that Elvis Presley "Blue HAwaii" came out and one of the songs was "can't help falling" While Terry and her friends were here and me and some friends whom I fixed up with her friends where visiting them in their hotel room one evening. As the lanai was open to the starry Hawaii sky and while listening to the radio, we had started to dance. One of the songs that came on was Elvis "Can't help falling" and as we listen to this song and held each other while dancing, I and I think she did to knew that here was the person we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with. We were married in 1962 and we had the oppunity to spend two years in Hawaii as man and wife. We are now making plans to visit the Islands again for our 40th anniversary in November 0f 2002.
