A Hawaiian Love Story Dedicated to All the lovers out there Submitted by Chelsea The waves were crashing against the shore, the sun was setting, and everything was perfect, but all I could think about was Brett. We met on my first time here in Hawaii. I knew he was the one the moment I saw him. I was at the hotel bar relaxing from my long plane ride. He was talking with the bar tender. I noticed him right away. He was tall, handsome, and had one of those smiles that makes a woman go weak at the knees. He must have noticed my constant glances at him. He came over to where I was sitting and offered to buy me a drink. I instantly agreed. When we both had fresh drinks, we sat down and talked, until the bartender told us he was closing up. I did not want to leave Brett. He was everything I ever wanted in a man. I think he felt the same about me. He instantly said we were just heading to the beach for a stroll. My heart pounded when we were walking together. He told me about his family and I told him about mine. Finally, we decided it was getting late. I'll never forget his words as he left me at my hotel room. "I have never met anyone like you Julie. I know it seems sudden, but I think I am falling for you." I couldn't believe it. I had finally found the man of my dreams and he liked me, too. The next day as I was getting ready to get some breakfast I heard a knock at the door. I opened it and there was Brett holding rose for me. I smiled when I saw him standing there. He looked so handsome. He looked like he couldn't wait to see me. He took me to the beach for a picnic breakfast. We talked for even longer than the night before. I felt I had known this man my whole life even if we had just met. When took me back to the hotel I told him I had never felt this way about anyone before. "I feel the same way about you, Julie." "I think I am falling in love with you." Those words brought tears to my eyes. I knew that this was the man I would marry. He promised to pick me up later that night for supper. He was suppose to come at six o'clock. I was ready at five though. When he came in he looked so perfect that I hugged and kissed him. He kissed me back and said "I love you, Julie." I don't know how this happened so quickly, but it did. We both felt the same way. Right there we agreed to be married. We did not make it to dinner. I made love to Brett that night. He stayed until morning and left to get some breakfast. He came back with an engagement ring. It was one diamond set with coral around it so we would remember our first days in Hawaii. The next week Brett and I were married. It was the most romantic wedding ever to be dream of. It was just the two of us the priest, and my mom and dad who were reluctant to give me away, but happy for me anyway. That night Brett promised me that he would love me forever, and he did. Brett is gone now. He died six months ago. He was seventy-five years old. I came back to Hawaii to remember those first wonderful days of our love. I will always remember Brett. I know that when my time comes to leave this wonderful world, Brett will be there waiting for me at the gates of Heaven.
