The Anniversary Dedicated to Barbara Submitted by Dave Our timeless love has been built on our remarkable beginning in Hawaii. We were married in 1968 in San Diego, I was a seaman in the Navy and Barb was just out of school. So young, but so much in love. After one week of marraige I was transferred to duty in Viet Nam. It was almost too much to take, being separated for so long. We wrote every single day to each other and when my tour was over I received orders to Hawaii for shore duty. Money was scarce and we didn't have a place to live yet, but we were determined to be together on our first anniversary. I made reservations for dinner at the "Top of the I" and we were going to splurge. We had a wonderful dinner, wine and candlelight and to our surprise when I asked for the check the waiter informed us that a gentleman who wished to remain anonymous was paying for our evening. We were so surprised and thankful. That evening was the beginning of two glorious years in Hawaii. Our first son was born at Tripler --- about nine months later. We have enough great memories of Hawaii to last a lifetime, the past 32 years have been wonderful. If we should be lucky enough to win this trip, we will repay the favor to some other young couple by paying for thier candlelight dinner, who knows, maybe Hawaii could work its magic on them like it did for us.
