Marry me on Maui Dedicated to Bonnie Submitted by Eric The process of planning a wedding can be a traumatic experience. My future wife and I wanted to have a small, simple wedding because we did not want to start out lives together with a huge debt hanging over our heads. We had both wanted to go to Hawaii for quite some time, so we coordinated a wedding through a local consultant. We wanted to elope, but also wanted to have our friends and family there for that important day. We could not think of a better way to handle both than to have a planned elopement in Hawaii so that our friends and family could benefit from a vacation as well. It took us 25 hours to get to Maui, but it was worth it. When describing the perfect wedding (and I often do to others), I talk about my wedding day. I woke up and went marlin fishing in the morning, had some frozen drinks by the pool, got in my tux, got married in a beautiful garden waterfall on Maui, and had pictures in the foreground of the most beautiful Hawaiian sunset. Before we knew it, the day was over. It was a whirlwind day, without the stress of a normal wedding, in the backdrop of the most beautiful place on earth. We followed that up with a honeymoon in Kauai and Oahu. We try to keep the memories fresh in our minds by looking at our wedding photos and video. It has been almost five years since then, so we are planning on making that trip halfway across the world to relive the joys of that special time in our lives (and to visit the Big Island).
