Love Stories of Hawaii

Special Occasion

A Long Awaited Gift
Dedicated to Our Someday Child

Submitted by J

We've been married now for 8 years. That's a long time by today's standards. We've had time to learn, grow, and play together. However, the last couple of years have been a little difficult. There came a time in our marriage where we were both working a lot of hours and allowed very little time for each other. Fortunately, we were in a position where I could quit. Refreshed, and renewing our marriage, we prioritized what was really important in our lives. Both of us having careers wasn't necessarily it. What we wanted most in the world was to have a family. Like all couples, we thought it would be easy. Just try at the right time every month, and we'd be blessed. Six months into it (and 2 late periods), we realized that it wasn't going to be so easy. We had all the right tests done, and we quickly found out that I couldn't have a baby unless I had surgery. Something was severely wrong with my tubes which meant an egg couldn't get where it needed to be in order to be fertilized. We proceeded with the surgery, and now the doctor says I have as good of a chance as anyone (who has had the surgery) to conceive. We have a new hope in our hearts, but there is still the underlying stress of wondering if and when it is going to happen. We are going into our 4th month, and we are prayerful of when we might be blessed with this long awaited gift. What we really need is to get away - somewhere where we could relax and enjoy ourselves without the money and time demands and the everyday pressures that couples face. The only caviat is that now that we are living on one income, there is no way to splurge on a vacation. Neither one of us has been to Hawaii, but I have done extensive research on the places we'd go, given the chance. I can't think of a better place to go nor a better reason to do it than to fulfill our ultimate wish.
