How he asked me
Dedicated to my wonderful husband - Kevin

Submitted by Anne

We were both in the Air Force, working different shifts, and had been seeing each other for over a year. Kevin picked me up for lunch one day and we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant. He asked me if I wanted to go to the mall to get some early Christmas shopping done that evening. I said sure. Little did I know that he had another agenda entirely. (I found out later that after he had dropped me off, he had headed straight to the mall to plan the big event of the evening. He told the store clerk we would be there at 6:00pm.) He was waiting for me when I got home. He patiently watched TV while I changed clothes and chattered away about the activities of the day. We made it to the mall by 6:00pm precisely. How well he knew me already. He steered me towards a jewelry store and pointed to the window display. I noticed some fortune cookies and a sign that read "Anne Marie, you are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime." I was stunned and amazed that someone else had the same name as me! Talk about clueless! Imagine my surprise when he led me inside the store and the clerks immediately rushed over. They pulled a balloon out of the window which I had failed to notice. Dangling inside the balloon was another fortune cookie. By this time tears were streaming down my face and I don't think I was the only one. I popped the balloon and opened the cookie. Inside was a beautiful marquis diamond ring and a fortune that read "I would be very fortunate if you would marry me." We've been married 6 years and are expecting our first child in May. I would love to take this wonderful, creative, romantic man to the most romantic destination in the world - Hawaii.
