Summer Romance

Clubhouse Love
Dedicated to Robert Grundy

Submitted by Melissa

I had just gotten out of the shower because it was so hot and I was burning up from the heat. It was about 1:00 in the morning and I was looking out my window with the wind blowing in my face and lost in thought, looking at the moon. When all of a sudden, a light flashes in my window, I get up to see what was going on and the light was coming from my childhood clubhouse. So I go outside to see who it was, wondering who could it be, and when I got outside the clubhouse, there was a shadowed figure standing at the bottom of the ladder waiting, watching as I came closer. And I said, "Who's out there?" And a voice spoke out from the darkness, "It's me, Robert, from your Head Start class from a long time ago. I was your first kiss in our Head Start class. do you remember me?" And I said, "How could I forget you?" He put his finger to my lips and said, "Shhhh." He took my hand and led me up the ladder. On the way up the ladder, I looked up and I could see a glowing in the distance. Finally we reached the top, and the glowing was some lit candles that filled the room with light. I could see the shadows from the fire dancing on the wall. I looked down and I saw a blanket with two pillows and there were rose petals spread out everywhere. We fed each strawberries and cherries with whip cream. And then he blew out the candles and we made love that was burning with deep desire, passion and lust like two animals fighting for food. But we weren't fighting for food, we were fighting for something more. We were fighting for love, fighting for the night, trying to hold onto it forever. But we soon fell asleep in each other's arms. But we woke up just in time to see the sun rise. And right then, I knew we would be together for the rest of our lives. And from that moment on, we've been together.
