A Never-ending Love Dedicated to Rita Given Submitted by Jacqueline My love and I were married in 1968. The years passed and things just did not work out as we had planned. We drifted apart and little things got in the way. We were divorced in 1989. We still lived in the same town and have three children together, so we were in frequent contact. In 1994, both of his parents died. It was a time to reflect on the past and decide what was really important in life. When he came back after the funerals, we got together and talked. We have always loved each other, but we let too many things get in the way. So, we decided to try living together again and trying harder to make it work this time. My sister and her husband have relatives in Hawaii and went there a lot. We wanted to be remarried on the beach in Hawaii at sunrise. So, my sister threw herself into making plans to make this happen. Then she was diagnosed with cancer. She died a year ago. The trip to Hawaii never happened. She wanted so much to be there for our vows this time. She gave me a Hawaiian wedding dress for our ceremony. She knew how much we have always loved each other. The trip to Hawaii was postponed as were the plans to be remarried for now. I just could not do it without my sister there. One day when we take those vows again in Hawaii, I know my sister will be there in spirit. True love never dies.
