The Perfect Engagement Ride
Dedicated to Laura Hall

Submitted by Andrew

I wanted to suprise my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years to a romantic engagement in which both of us would remember for the rest of our lives. She was going out of town on a business trip. So I went to go look at engagement rings and picked one out. I picked it up about one week later. My girlfriend, Laura, came home from her trip. I asked her on Sunday July 2nd, 2000 if she would like to go to the zoo on Monday. She said "Okay". So I picked her up at 9:00 am that morning. I started to drive and we were not going the way we normally go when we go to the zoo. She kept questioning where we were going. I would tell her it was a short cut. We came closer to the engagement-to-be site which was at a State Conservation Park. We got out of the car and walked down a dirt road were there were 2 horses tied to a tree. We saddled up with some water and a blanket that I had brought and we road the horses on a trail for about 30 or 40 minutes. We stopped and tied the horses up and I told Laura to spread out the blanket and I would get the water. While she started to open up the blanket, I pulled out the engagement ring out of my pocket and got down on one knee. She opened up the blanket which read "Will you marry me?". She immediately turned around and was crying and said, "YES!" My hope for the future is to Honeymoon in Hawaii and go on a romantic horse ride on the beach to remind us of that "Perfect Engagemnet Ride."
