The Cave at Hanakapei
Dedicated to My Husband
Submitted by Carolyn
It was almost August,1992. We had been planning a trip to Kauai with friends. Lots of road blocks were occuring and it looked like we weren't going to be able to make the trip after all.
Luckily, we did make the trip because it was to be my husband's and mine most memorable trip we had or have since taken.
You see, about midway into the trip we all decided to hike the Na Pali coast trail on the North side. We had hiked to the waterfall and were approaching Hanakapei beach.
My husband and I took the opportunity to stroll down the beach for a bit of quiet time between just us two.
As we walked we came upon a cave not very large but we looked at each other and immediately came up with the same idea!!! It was like a scene from that movie, "From Here to Eternity". I'm sure if you've seen
the movie you understand what I mean.
Anyway, the just of it is we had been praying for a child for a long time and on September 11, 1992 as I watched Hurricane Inki destory the Kauai we so loved I was waiting in a doctor's office to find out if I was pregnant. Praise God!!! I was and we would have the child we desired.
This Christmas we will be celebrating in Hawaii and that child now seven years old will be there too. Thank you, Kauai, Hawaii!!!
